blog2b Is civil disobedience ever justified? Under certain circumstances. Under an internally harmonious hierarchy, theoretically civil disobedience would never be justified. If civil disobedience is possible, then it isn't justified because conditions aren't so bad they warrent it. If civil disobedience is impossible, then it isn't justified because it's a bad idea to do impractical things. But everyone above us is seldom internally harmonious. When a local government wants to discourage civil disobedience to unjust conditions, it's possible the higher government actually has different standards that the local government is violating. In such a case, civil disobedience has a chance of success and yet is also warranted. Essentially, civil disobedience is a kind of acting on behalf of a weak higher law. It's morally justifiable if it has worthwhile consequences. Since there's a disconnect in general society, you can't read the will of God from the perception of the masses, so you have to read it purely through interaction with God, or perhaps a subset of society that you respect.
